Shill Bidding?

I have been watching a toy sold by the seller: dabbad3

And just discovered that he maybe shill bidding on his own auctions, is it clear? and worth reporting:

Since when did shill bidders stop bidding at £3.99 on an item that finished at £16.50, or at £3.50 on an item that finished at £16?

Just because some people bid on a lot of items from one person doesn't make them a shill bidder.

I am a collector of Cherished Teddies, a lot of these I buy on eBay, and many come from the same sellers, so I'm seen bidding on these sellers' auctions a lot. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but it doesn't make me a shill bidder, just someone with a 'that's as much as I'd pay for that' limit. Using the logic you are applying here, the guy who won a lot of these items is also shill bidding, which he obviously isn't.

Shill bidders push prices up and up; there's none of that here, nor are the tell-tale signs of 'bid retractions' present.

You give a lot of very good advice on this board, Fay, but I think you're jumping the gun with this 'report away' advice here.

    My tuppence worth. :)

If you are not paying for it, you're not the customer; you're the product being sold.

They ONLY bid on items from that seller. They have won several, on different dates. They have not received any feedback for these purchases.

If there is no shilling, reporting won't do any harm.

The first item was only won yesterday, I'm not sure I'd expect too much feedback yet.

It does look a little suspicious though, however the seller has been around for a while.

Fair point, I actually looked at the start dates by mistake.

I still think it's fishy though - out of 1392 Power Rangers listings, our Becky only seems to be interested in the ones from this guy.

Think this post is a bit dodgey myself...... Bit too defensive don't ya think fay? ;)

but as Fay says.... if there is no shilling then there is no problem!!
You're quite right, I joined this forum in January, made a few posts here and there over the months to avoid suspicion, just so that I could defend an eBay bidder and seller once they put their great shill-bidding plan into place 8 months later. Your suggestion of any collusion on my part with either of these people being accused is insulting.

Why do you people do this? The minute someone offers an opinion different to that of the 'establishment' that person is obviously related in some way to the person being accused of wrong doing. You obviously missed the part where I said that I thought that Fay gave a lot of good advice on this board, but that in this case I thought she was jumping the gun a bit.

My post was very clear, in that I explained that shill bidders push prices up. There is absolutely no suggestion of that there. If there was, I would be reporting it myself. I'm not defending anyone, and I certainly would never defend a shill bidder, having been a victim myself while still an eBay newbie.

    Edit:

FYI. This is what I have sent to the Abuse team while reporting your insulting post.

"Just a quick note to you informing you that I am unhappy about the suggestion made about me by the member making this post.
A lot of your more established members seem to think that they are running their own little private club, and that new(ish) members are not allowed their own opinion. There are far too many occasions where a new member is attacked for having a different opinion from that of one of the establishment. You really should try and put a stop to this. That said, these people should really know better."

    Everyone's entitled to an opinion.

Now that Dabby has finished listing Power Rangers, I'll be keeping an eye on Becks's ebay career to see if it takes a corresponding dip in activity.
