Extra costs should I be liable?

G I received a email today from my solicitor saying they need a extra £250 because they are "Dealing with Unregistered Title" with the house I am buying. I would have thought the vendors are liable for this as it needs to be registered before they can sell??

Seems annoying I have to pay for them.

The title does not have to be registered before a sale, and either the vendor or the buyer can deal with that.

Why should the vendor pay? He does not want it registered! He does not benefit from registration! The law does not require him to register!

No reason for him to do it all.

It's a buying cost. OK, perhaps one that you hadn't anticipated, but did you anticipate the cost of an additional gas engineer report?

I'm afraid when buying property you need a coningency fund for a whole host of potential 'additional' costs that may arise.
