Hi, I'm new here and just need some advise on balance transfers. I took put a Halifax credit card 15 months ago with 0% interest on the baldness for 22 months. I transferred my existing balance from my nationwide credit card to the Halifax card. Stupidly I didn't get rid of the nationwide card and had some emergency situations arise leading to me spending on the old credit card.
What I want to know is can I transfer the new amount on my nationwide credit card (£500) to the Halifax credit card?will this new balance transfer fit under the interest free time that remains on the card or will I be charged interest, I am pressuming the balance transfer rate of 3% will apply. Any advise is much appreciated. Thank you

Hello,
There'll be others who'll be able to advise you better than I can on here but having had a look at the Halifax website you'd incur a Balance Transfer fee and also pay interest on the balance as it's only seemingly 0% when transferred within 90 days. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
You need to check whether halifax have any current balance transfer offers available to you.
The old offer won't be available (typically balance transfers are available for around 60days, although at the moment they may be offering 90days per the post above), but they might have a new offer available to you for a new period of time.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thank you so much. I'll go in to my local Halifax and check what the situation is I just want even sure if you could do an additional transfer so this has really helped me. Thank you.0

Actually one more question, would I be better off transferring both valves into a new card with a 0% interest rate or will that affect my credit rating/history if I keep changing cards?0

Could be worth looking in to transferring both.
Do you expect to still have an outstanding balance on the first transfer in 7months time when the 0% runs out.
Usually when you do balance tranfers there is a fee, so its best not to transfer early as you lose some of the months of 0%. That said there are a couple of cards at the moment with no balance transfer fee.
In terms of your credit file, unlikely to make much difference as long as you are overall reducing the amount of debt you have. If you do transfer again then remember to cancel the old cards so you don't run up further debt.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
