No longer the owner - and have a fine!!

Hello all

What a smashing forum - and site in general

I have received a parking fine from UKPC for a car that I havent owned for some time
I posted the copy of sale / px invoice along with DVLA record that I am no longer the registered owner, but almost by return post they sent a final reminder !! with 14 days to pay it
I hadn't checked into this forum initially as I thought it would be straight forward, however in retrospect maybe I should have had proof of posting
What sort of proof of posting will be sufficient?
I did read the newbie post - but didnt see anything specific to my case
Its scary getting a final reminder - Its so tempting to give in and pay but I wasnt the driver GRRRRR

May well have simply passed in the post, but if you want to send anything again a simple certificate of posting (free) from the post office will do.

was parking 'offence' on private property? I believe these fines are not enforceable..

UKPC aren't the quickest at sending out mail. They may have been slow with the first and quick with the second!

Have you checked the date of the parking "infringement", was it something that occurred whilst you were still the owner? Have they given appeal details. Re-send the invoice and DVLA docs if you wish, get proof of delivery if you're concerned, a certificate of posting only says something was sent (not necessarily received).

put a complaint in to the DVLA too , seeing as they got your details from the DVLA
  • I will pop to the post office tomorrow and send the copies off again with the Cert of posting - sincerely hope that it IS just a case of crossed wires and not a multinational parking fine collector behaving unscrupulously
I would rather be prepared for the worst Skintpaul :) Im never that lucky that things will " go away " if I dont address it at least

I sold the car in Oct but was still registered as the owner when I received the parking fine notice ( I wasn't aware of this ). I informed DVLA immediately and they posted me a letter to say I was no longer the registered owner
I posted ( copies of ) my invoice of sale and the newly received DVLA confirmation that I'm no longer the owner
Hopefully that will be sufficient to " clear me " of this ?

If I were you I'd just ignore it now whatever their response is. UKPC doesn't "do" court and they'd be mad to start with you now you've shown them you can prove it wasn't your car.

Come back in the vanishingly small eventuality of receiving court papers (not going to happen!) and we'll get in a truckload of popcorn!

  • For my peace of mind ( what if the originally posted certs did get lost in post?? ) I will repost the documents off using the free proof of posting
Then I shall ignore any further attempts !

OO one other thing - will a small local post office have the required proof of posting or should I head to the large branch in town?

    Thanks again

Any post office can give you a proof of posting.
