One touch close on MK3 Galaxy

Afternoon all,

Just a quick one (Hopefully). My wife's MK3 Galaxy has an issue with the drivers side front window, it will open with one touch or global opening but will not close. At first I thought that's an easy fix, its just forgotten the programming, so I followed some on line steps to sort out and it worked. That is until the engine was turned off. When I got back in and put the ignition on I found it was not working again.

After looking around for a solution I come up blank. Has anyone had and solved this issue before?

I don't know if this is relevant, but on my Mondeo (also a Ford) I have to reset the windows every time I disconnect the battery. There's a routine in the handbook (presumably what you found online) which basically puts the windows through their full range and lets the mechanism re-learn how far it should go up and down. Assuming the Galaxy is the same (a$$, you, me, yes I know), and you had to reset the windows after switching the engine off, I am wondering if there is a wiring fault somewhere so that the body ECM is not retaining the window settings with the ignition off.


Not an expert, no idea really, just a thought.
