Hope that I haven't been caught driving without an MOT !

Hi all,

Due to a family bereavement, I had to rush somewhere via the train. I stuck my car in the office car park not far from the station and it had a valid MOT.

I returned a few days ago. I picked my car up and drove home without a valid MOT. If I got a taxi, it would have cost me over £10. The trip was less that 2 miles.

I am fairly sure that I have not been caught by any ANPR cameras but would be grateful if someone could confirm.

For info, I now live in Dorset.

Thanks.

    No-one can "confirm".

    But it's highly unlikely!

Extremely unlikely you've been caught. The ANPR vans usually have police further down the road pulling you over.
  • Thanks all. That is what I thought and hoped.

Remember you can now only drive it legally to a booked MOT appointment, so write down the garage phone number and appointment time when you are taking it there. If you go to one of these MOT while you wait, still get an appointment.

Two miles in Dorset? The chances of there being a fixed ANPR camera are minimal, unless you were unlucky enough to find one on a bit of trunk road.

I once drove for 5 days without an MOT. Genuine accident. I was tired when reading through the certificates and got the date of my girlfriends car and mine mixed up, ergo I was driving with not MOT. I went past several police cars and not one pulled me over.....

    Pot luck eh?

Before this new stupid road fund change I used to always get 18 months out of my MOT. Bad, perhaps, but it worked for me.

Only 18 months. That's disappointing. Put 12 months tax on a month before it expires and get 23 months out of each mot.

Wouldn't risk it these days, even the petrol stations round here are linked to the police by ANPR.
