Business Bank account closed with £3000 in

I dissolved my company which dissolved on the 31/04. The bank account remained open until this morning. This morning the bank canceled any withdrawals, which if obviously as expected. I knew this was coming because I was dissolving the business, the I kept the account empty.
BUT, this afternoon one of my customers accidentally paid into this account instead of the new one.
The bank accepted the payment after closing the account.
I expected that any amounts attempted to be put into the account after closing would have been bounced...
I this money lost? Has the bank done what they were supposed to?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

I believe that bank can trace the money as it'll go in to one of their holding accounts. Give them a call and they'll advise.
  • It won't be lost, it may be just a bit of a pain to get back.

As per the above post, it will go into a holding account you will need to take it up with the bank to get it back.
    Thinking critically since 1996....

    Which is it?

Was dissolved almost 12 months ago, or still active???

It's not your money. It would belong to the company (if the company still exists). If the company has vanished, so has any money.

The legal term is Bona Vacantia

    https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/bona-vacantia

In certain circumstances, it may be possible to recover such assets

    Independent legal advice is recommended.
