At present it's just one of a number of options which have been put forward, nothing more than that. UC won't complete rollout for a long time yet so this type of change isn't going to happen any time soon, if at all.

Just to put some thing else into the mix. We all know what a mess UC is, BUT I cannot see the government changing the rules just for UC claimants. That would be totally unfair and unjust. You can't have one sector of society getting a benefit and another nothing just because they are claiming UC or not. To do the right thing it should be for everyone or no one.

in addition, and way off subject, they cannot really expect people to go along with the idea that two sectors of claimants get DLA whilst a third has to claim PIP - no doubt this will change with the next government.

And the alternative is? Surely not the previous lot who caused all of this mess we are in as well as starting the ball rolling with Welfare Reform - ESA - DLA?

If we all took the third option and abstained from voting - that result would be very interesting.

Not heard anything about carers allowance being stopped?

Could it be that under universal credit you do not need to claim carers allowance to get the carer premium included?

The Tories have it in their mind to stop awarding CA completely when UC goes national if they get back into power to help reduce the nations debt.

How ridiculous, because it is deducted from that benefit anyway, and you just get the premium

But what about those that aren't on a means tested benefit? How are they going to get the 'premium'?

Where is the evidence that the Tories are going to stop carers allowance? If you have some evidence please post up.

I certainly have not read anywhere that carers allowance will be stopped.
