Car hire

Hello,

I don't use my car very much (only three for four times a month), and so I'm thinking of getting rid of my car and using a hire car instead.

I'd be very grateful for any thoughts from forum members who've made the switch to a hire car, and who can give me advice on how best to proceed.

It's probably more likely you will get a better deal on a lease (PCH) with small (5000 miles) annual mileage allowance - have you looked into this?

I guess it depends on your usage profile ... how long will you need it each time, and how many miles will you expect to do?

is there one of those City Car, go car , car club places near you? We have one here in Dumfries which is a fairly small town.

But you could lease a small car for around 100 a month

I would rather not lease a car, and I live in London, so perhaps a car club is the way to go?

I looked up City Car Club and they seem fine...

Any further advice is greatly appreciated.

There a toyota garage near you? Derby used to hire out 1.33 yaris's for £18+vat a day, and as they were closed on a sunday you could have it dropped off friday morning and picked up monday morning for £36+vat, and just return it with whatever petrol. Shame they stopped (probably made no profit), but other toyota garages might still do them.
