Removed wallpaper and caused slight blemishes on plasterboard

Hi Guys

I've just removed all the wallpaper in one of our rooms and wish to paint it. There were 2 layers of wallpaper!-took me ages.

As I was removing the wallpaper using a steamer and with the help of a scraper, I made quite a few dents/scrape marks on the plasterboard (drywall). My question is, what is the quickest way to repair these (that's assuming I need to) before painting. Can I get away with not repairing it? They are approx 2 mm deep. Filler or is there a special basecoat, links please....many thanks.

I'm useless at DIY, utterly pointlessly useless and a danger. I had a ceiling crack to hide one day and I bought a tub of ready-mixed polyfiller - about the size of a Pot Noodle pot. Get one of those (smaller if you can) and an old plastic card .... it's dead easy.

Just put a bit of the ready-mixed stuff into the hole/dent, then pull the card down the wall to flatten/level it.

It depends what standard of finish you are trying to achieve. For a good finish, buy ordinary, cheap Everbuild brand decorators filler from Toolstation (around £3 I think for 1.2kg, or there abouts). You will find smaller packs elsewhere but they will not be too much cheaper.

But if you are not particularly bothered on finish, put a bit of paint on the damage to seal in the plasterboard, and when dry, decorate over the wall.

    Hope this helps.
