Santander 123 any good abroad?

I'm planning on going on holiday in september time. While I can save money to be able to get euros at sainsbury's etc, i'm wondering if it'd be easier to use my santander 123 card abroad to get cash as/when i need it. I also have an M&S card if this may be any better?

I'm not looking to take out a card "suitable" for use abroad, I'm just wondering whether or not what I've got is going to cost me an arm and a leg.

Cheers fellas :)

  • Not good value compared to Halifax Clarity.

But probably better value than taking cash.

Why not price up the cost on their web site?

If i were to exchange, say, £700... I'm going to get a certain rate from supermarkets/post office. If i use my credit card for up to £700 worth of withdrawals/spending...? I can't help but think it might cost a fair bit. It says on their site that there's a 2.95% transaction fee and 3% or £3 fee for any withdrawals... 100 euros at a time is starting to look quite costly.

    Probably - for purchases.
Paying ~6% for ATM withdrawals (more for small amounts) plus interest is unlikely to be better.

I shall stick to saving up and exchanging before the trip then. Thanks very much for your help.
