Hi

Hi

I have been a long time absentee from this site. I was last here in 2011 trying to sell my empty house that had been on the market a year.

I was so desperate to get rid of it. I considered using one of those outfits that buy your house within 7 days, I even considered handing the keys back to the bank.

I didn't do either.

I managed to sell and made enough profit for a slap up meal out on the night of completion.

So where am I now? well I am in the process of selling my current pad (the wifes (I got married since then) to be precise) to hopefully get somewhere bigger. So please expect and excuse the forthcoming tales of woe regarding that.

Let me throw a question to you...

When you view a property whereby you meet the vendor (not the estate agent) do you like them to show you around, or are you happy for them to let you get on with it whilst they wait for you.

I hate the latter, I want the owner to show me around, tell me about it, answer my questions as I go and sell it to me.

What are your thoughts?

I'd never want to walk around unaccompanied with the owner still in the house! That just seems rude, poking your nose randomly in doors. Nooo.

Once I'd been shown around, sure but not until I'd been shown the full house.

I would prefer to look around alone, wouldn't want someone looking over my shoulder as I judge everything.

My thoughts exactly, some houses we looked at this is what the vendors expected.

I hate it and refused to consider it any further this being part of the reason

You refused to consider a house because the owners said go and have a look around yourself?

Well no not really I had already put a offer in on another that I like more. But I feel so uncomfortable poking around someone's house when they just sit downstairs watching TV

And that wasn't the only reason any way.

I much prefer to look around by myself, me and my OH viewed a lot of houses earlier in the year and it's pretty awkward looking round a house with the owners shadowing you. We couldn't say what we really thought to each other for fear of offending, felt like we needed to make polite conversation, and didn't feel like we could spend as long as we would have liked just looking at things.

You are looking around my house and my belongings, I would be with you every step of the way to answer your questions.
No offence but I would ensure any strangers (to me) pockets would also be sewn up.
    I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p
  • The best viewings I've been on with a vendor always involved them showing us around the house first then they left us to have a wander around ourselves.

I would much rather meet the vendor and get my answers straght from the horses mouth.

My last vendor told me a pack of lies so ill never trust what house sellers say ever again. I prefer to walk round on my own. I know what I'm looking for and don't need the vendors sales rubbish telling me how great the neighbours are , how the house is just perfect blah blah blah.
