Online competitions - should we tick the box to receive emails about future offers?

Hi guys.

I'm fairly new to comping, and just wondered if people are in with a better chance of winning if they tick the box that says 'I would like to be kept informed about future offers and products'?

I never tick the box because I don't want my inbox flooded with spam (it's a nightmare as it is already!). But does that jeopardise my chance of winning?

Just curious :)

hi, I usually opt out from them,
there's an interesting snippet in the compers guide also that may help..

11 If you opt in or out of their mailing / 3rd party mailings, does it affect your chances?
I ALWAYS indicate a big fat 'no' to both of those, unless it is something that I'd really like to hear more about or a comp you enter by signing up for their newsletter.

It should make no difference to whether you are included in the comp or not, although some smaller companies may break the rules. I have to say I’ve been really lucky with wins & it seems to have made no difference whatsoever to my chances by always opting out where I can. It just means that I end up with less spam & on less junk mail lists.

also some great tips here if you're doing the mag dailies regarding tick boxes/vids etc..:)

Great tip here from compsalex to save you entry time
Using Roboform to fill in "No Thanks" boxes in Dailies :T
Great tip from BuffaloB as to how to skip the videos on some dailies
There is a very simple way of skipping the videos you are required to view in order to enter some of the dailies. If users install Adblock Plus for Firefox or Chrome then when it comes to play the videos it just skips them :T
    https://adblockplus.org/ for IE

For info on number of entries, how winners are contacted etc, check the terms and conditions posted here and here thanks to cornishpasty1 :T

    Tenth Anniversary
Last year I won £5000 with a febreeze competition which was posted on here, and I opted out of receiving emails etc. So I don't think it makes a difference x
