Housing Benefit Query - 15hrs employed work

Options
I have looked on my local council website and called them but no clear answer. Entitled to website says I should still qualify for housing benefit. All the council said was depends on income and circumstances.

I will be only one of a couple to have found employed work recently. We have 2 kids. I know I will not get working tax credits until I can get more hours. I am on a zero hours contract and am due to start a fixed term of 15hours per week. I am taken the post as I am desperate to be back in employment and its been a couple a years of countless applications interviews to no avail.

As I am 1hour short of the cut off point I understand I can still sign on for jsa but the thought alone of having to still deal with the jsa people is depressing. I am also looking at other ways to get more money in.

If I sign off JSA will I still get some help with my rent?

The Turn2us online benefit calculator can model the changes to your benefits if you input the 15 hour per week employment income.

Good luck with the job, hope you get extra hours to take you up to at least the WTC threshold.
