Just to add, I very recently applied and truthfully stated my salary (which is below £1750 a month) and was accepted.

Also pretty certain I stated that I'd use it for savings too.

I opened an Advance account a few days ago. Just got my debit card, and it's a silver non-contactless one with a £300 limit. When I phoned them to order an advance card, my call didn't go to the Advance team, it went to the general telephone banking team... also my app doesn't show HSBC Advance when I open it. The account states Advance on internet banking though.

Apparently they've ordered an Advance card now. Something went wrong somewhere.

How long did it take from application to receiving the cards etc, out of interest?

I applied and received a letter saying approved, sign this, etc., then the next day another letter with another thing to sign (they'd forgotten to send it in the first pack apparently). These were returned about a week ago and I've heard nothing else.

I could call them on Tuesday, I suppose...

Is there a reason you aren't just opening a donor account and switching to the M&S one that ALSO has a 6% regular saver AND £100 switching bonus, with NO minimum pay in?

There could be all sorts of reasons, such as people wanting to save more than £250 a month, already having an M&S regular saver, being turned down for an M&S account etc etc

Hi, I have HSBC Account - not paying £1750, It is used for 2 credit card Direct debits everymonth which is around £800pm. Basic on account credits unlikely they will offer me Advance account.

If I credit £1750 for afew months - take into account DD payments and then transfer remaining back - do you think I will automatically eligible for Advance account?

    Thanks

dont know about automatically allowed, but they will not even consider it unless they see you credit the minimum for at least 3 months.
