UK Non-Resident Bank Account

Not sure if I've posted in the right section but here goes.

I'm a British non-resident living in Thailand and my UK bank will be shortly closing my account due to being non-resident although I do hold a Thai bank account.

My UK bank was used to conduct share transactions with a UK stockbroker and due to the imminent closure, I wish to open say a basic UK bank account taking into account that I am resident here in Thailand.

I understand this is not easy and my only alternative would be to open an offshore bank account but their required minimum deposits are rather too high.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
