Santander Credit Card applications – is anyone else having problems?

Is anyone having problems in applying for the Santander Credit Card? I first applied for the card on the 1st December 2014 and have still not received the card, I received a letter confirming I had been successful and could I send in 2 forms of identity, which I did, I also received the password for online logon and then received a letter advising they could no longer offer the card. I rang up to query this to be advised it was a computer error and to apply again, I raised a compliant and then applied again to be told today that exactly the same thing has happened and might have to apply for a 3rd time! I keep calling and asking to speak to the complaints department about the service to be told they are to busy to talk to me and someone will call me back, and another week goes by. I have never experienced anything like this before and find it quite unbelievable, has anyone else experienced problems like this?

I had a smooth online application late November 2014.
I imagine you are not on the electiral role (as you are being asked to send proof of ID). This could be complicating / delaying your application.0 -
I guess this is one of the downsides of leaving it all up to the computer.
I had a different problem with Santander when I applied for a second credit card about a year ago.
I was accepted. Card arrived; PIN arrived; I made purchases.
Then, a few weeks later, I received a letter telling me me application had failed... sorry we can't offer you the card... check credit files.
A while later a letter with different wording telling me the same thing arrived

I applied via Quidco for the £12.50 cashback last week, approved and account setup online within 1 hour and the card arrived this week. I guess this is one of the upsides of leaving it all up to the computer
