Ebay, Credit card funded Paypal refund issue

Bought and paid for a Nintendo 3DS - credit card funded paypal, as a Christmas present - only part of the bundle listed was sent so INR claim initiated

Aldo during Dec sold item which buyer claimed was faulty - was supplied new and boxed - claim filed and paypal put hold on the money - leaving a negative balance as I had already withdrawn to bank. This is ongoing as the item needs to be returned to me.

Have today been advised by ebay that they have stepped in and refunded the full payment - this is an Ebay funded refund rather than from the seller.

I have logged into paypal and the refund - from ebay - has been deducted from the negative balance.

Surely this should have been refunded to the CC as funded - obviously I know I need to deal with the negative balance but need the item back before refunding.

I was under the impression it would go direct to the funding source rather than paypal holding onto it - anyone able to clarify the situation for me

Negative balance takes priority.

Yep, as theonlywayisup says any debt is cleared before you received the money.

However, if the item being returned to you fails to arrive in the designated time frame then that balance will be released back to you. So it all works out in the end.
