Buying concert tickets on ebay

Has anyone ever done this - bought tickets to a concert?
What are the risks, if anyone knows?
My son is after tickets for the Leeds festival. I gather that they're starting price is around £180 and expected to go higher.
If its a rip-off are you covered if you pay with PayPal?
Cheers

The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

I sold a ticket on Ebay. I listed it for the price I paid on a BIN and it sold within 3 hours.
So you can buy non-tout tickets this way. (I'd booked a date when I was still on holiday, so bought a ticket for the next night and then sold my original on).
Don't pay way over the proper price though; this is what keeps touts going.Happy chappy0 -
Cheers Tom
Trouble is how do I know a tout ticket from a non-tout ticket? The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -
The price mainly.
Even if their a one-time tout, why should you pay 3 times the original price for a ticket?Happy chappy0 -

Yeah...the same way as airlines "tout" their fares.........you know...the nearer the date the higher the price....!!
Is it illegal...nope supply and demand!
I don't honestly see any difference, if you are forward looking enough or plan things well, you never have to pay over the odds, that applies to every thing!0 -
I have bought leeds tickets from ebay for a few years running.
Leave it until the day before, prices plummet.
Search locally to you, within 25 miles and ask your seller if you can collect.
Pay cash on collection and you have pretty much eliminated all scams0 -

Do the prices really go down that much? The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -
Usually pick them up for about £50 - £60 a weekend ticket of you are willing to take a chance. I managed to get 3 adult camping for £150 last year and we all went
Its something we do on a whim, like I say if you are brave enough to risk leaving it until the thursday you can usually get them incredibly cheaply because at that stage the sellers are happy to get any money for them!
Make sure you ask about collection before you bid though!0 -

Sellers are meant to have the tickets in their possession before advertising. If the venue is months away and you pay up front (as you must) then you have no comeback when the tickets fail to materialise later.
Pulliptears advice is sound although you run the risk of tickets not being available but at least you haven't lost your money0 -
Have you tried looking on scarletmist, a site where you can buy/sell at face value.
