Strange behaviour from seller, HELP needed!

I will try to summarise my situation. Successfully won an auction via ebay. Dress (£30) arrived and auction said worn once for prom and dry cleaned. The dress was heavily stained all around the bottom of the dress through to netting. Definitely not been dry cleaned as was still in ripped plastic from original shop. The seller just rolled it up and sent it in a plastic bag which I thought was bad but not that bothered. I would never had paid the amount I did if I thought it would need dry cleaning. I messaged the buyer who said get it dry cleaned. I replied saying that I was unsure if the stains would come out and would like a refund and I initiated a refund.

Seller said o.k return for refund and said she was selling it for a family friend so was unaware of staining. I returned dress to seller. Then seller said her bank acc was not linked to paypal and that would take upto 4 days extra to get my refund. Eventually I get a full refund yesterday.

The weird thing is she re-listed dress the day I posted it back to her for a 3 day auction. So, I looked at her feedback and it is 100% but I didn't read all the comments. When I read her feedback the dress has been sold 4 separate times including to me! Each of the 3 buyers previous to me has left positive feedback. I am wondering how the buyer can sale the same dress to 4 diff buyers and they have all paid and are happy. I think there is a possibility of shill bidding as the same buyer (possibly a friend) has bought most of her items. The person who bought the dress the second time and who left positive feedback also bid against me when I bought the dress the 4th time!

I am now angry that this person has used a friend to bump up the price and made me pay more. I looked today and the person who bought the dress most recently (after the 3 day auction) is the same buyer who bought the dress the 1st time!!!!!
And after this, she re-listed the dress for sale again a 5th time!!!!! but it was taken off so maybe ebay did something.

I suppose I should not worry as I got a full refund but I am annoyed how people can do this. Also the last person to buy the dress has a different ebay name to the person who left the feedback so it looks like the buyer (a friend) is changing their ebay name, is this allowed? I did report her to ebay and they said they would look into it.

I am just so confused, it is very stupid of the buyer to get a friend to bid up auctions and then leave positive feedback repeatedly for the same item. I have not left feedback as of yet. Here are the feedback/transactions:

SELLER TRIED TO RE LIST DRESS BUT IT GOT DELETED/WITHDRAWN.

(THIS BUYER WON DRESS ON 30TH DEC AND LEFT THIS FEEDBACK ON 2ND JAN AND THEN SELLER RE-LISTED IT FOR 5TH TIME! TIMING DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE TAKING INTO ACCOUNT PUBLIC HOLS, ALSO SHE ALREADY BOUGHT IT 1ST TIME.)

I BOUGHT THE DRESS IN-BETWEEN THESE BUYERS.

You know what's going on... It's clear that she has used a friend or just another account to bump the price up.

You've got your refund and you've reported to ebay and that is all you can do. I'd just leave it now if I were you.

If you have reported her to eBay for shill bidding then that's all you can really do .

  • Thanks, I agree, I wasn't wanting to pursue the issue any further and I got refund so all is good. Just annoys me there are dishonest people out there. Also dress was supposed to be a bridesmaid dress for my 12 y o and she was quite upset. Also had the hassle of having to re box as I didn't want to put it in a carrier bag like seller and get it to PO (I have had recent spinal surgery).

Anyway life is too short, I will try to forget but not forgive ha ha.
