how does the view counter work?

Listed item, photo didn't display, so refreshed to check it was working. Could only have been listed for twenty seconds, but already had 4 views. That doesn't sound plausible, so how does the view counter actually work?

Every page hit ups the counter. You clicking refresh ups the counter.
I use the counters to check how many people maybe watching before sneaking in with a late bid.
If the counter is going up like crazy i just stick the bid in earlier.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
