Landlord stalling on repairs

I had an issue with a leak coming through the kitchen ceiling, which was initially reported on September 1st. This was repaired a few weeks later, with a hole being left where the contractor removed the tile. It took a couple of weeks (and 3 missed appointments where I was not contacted until the following day) for them to attempt to fix this.
He used a polystyrene tile, which blew out of place as soon as I shut the kitchen door, which I informed them about. A week or so later someone came out amd told me a new tile was needed. This was around 4 weeks ago. I'm now being told the landlord will not buy a pack of tiles as he only needs 2, and the contractor is 'trawling sites like eBay'.
Am I correct in thinking this is a little ridiculous? The hole looks awful and is around 30x20cm.

Polystyrene tiles in a kitchen? I'd be wondering about fire risks, not about the hole.0

This is for them to source a permanent tile, not polystyrene (I hope - at least).
I appreciate a hole isnt the most urgent repair, but I don't understand why they expect someone to sell a single tile.0 -
What sort of tiles are the originals?
Trouble is - your "don't understand why they expect someone to sell a single tile" is really only the reverse of his "don't understand why they expect us to buy a box of tiles" when as you say its not really an urgent repair. Even if they buy a box its unlikely they will get the same ones so it will look mismatched and still unsightly. Having said that I don't tend to look at my ceilings that often so perhaps wouldn't bothered.Adventure before Dementia!0
