O/S Daily Tuesday 16th December 2014
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Mr tru has taken a days holiday, we're going to do exactly as we pleaseWe'll make flasks of tea and coffee then head out to..... somewhere
Lunch in a country pub is definite, the rest of the day is unplanned. Must admit, I like to know what I'm doing and when, but as long as there's no crowds of people I'll be OK. Probably

:snow_laugGood morning all,
Thank you nmic for starting the thread and thank you Tru for the carol. I love it.
Tru have a lovely day with DH, isn't it good that you can just go where the fancy takes you?
Tomorrow we are going to see our lovely friend who recently had a heart attack and a bypass op. We haven't been sooner because he hasn't been very well, bu his wife has asked us to pop in tomorrow. I think it will be good for him to talk to Himself, who went through similar 6 years ago.
Just popping out today for a couple of things and I want to buy a couple of magazines for friend. He might not feel like reading a book yet but he might browse through a gardening magazine or car magazine.
I bought a couple of things yesteday to smarten up the guest bedroom and generally tidied up. That means of course I moved all the Christmas presents from that room to the boxroom:rotfl: Never mind, it isn't long now.
Marie so pleased to hear your op went well and you are free from pain, it must be nice to be home.
Elona DH sounds to be doing really well. although he had lost more weight than you thought. If you have anything to do with it that weight will be back soon:)
Have a good day everyone

Good Morning all and Happy Birthday to my 'adopted DD' Nelski and my DGS Ben, and to anyone else sharing a birthday with them today.
Still black as Newgates knocker outside at the moment I hate these December days when its dark langer than its light. But not too cold at least.
Today I am taking Ben out to lunch plus spending wads of dosh on him at the outdoor camping shop no doubt beforehand:)
Then tonight its Quiz night at the pub.So quite a social day with no food shopping or houseworkI hope everyone has a great day what ever they are doing,
Cheers everyone

Jackie have a great day with your grandson. sounds as though you will spoil him.
I have a similar bond with DGD1, she is such good company, she is now 21, but we have always been really close, and in fact I call her my third daughter, which makes her laugh
Have a wonderful day:A

Morning All
Cold and breezy but dry at the moment. Not here to put washing out so it will sit on the airers when it's done. Been up since 5.30 so the house is tidy, apart from the mess the builders have made! Bedroom floorboards down and I think the oak flooring is being delivered today, it needs to sit in the house for a few days, hopefully they will be able to put it in on Saturday morning.
I opened a new bank account about a month ago and didn't get round to doing the on-line bit but that's now done, such a simple job that only took about 5 minutes - one of those things you put off doing for some reasonl
tru - enjoying the carols, enjoy your day out.
Hope everyone is feeling ok, not long till the solstice!
JackieO - Enjoy your special day with your DGS, Happy Birthday to him.
Happy Birthday also to Nelski.
Not sure what is for tea, DD is working 9 till 9 today (that's retail for you at this time of year) I'll find something.
Enjoy your days. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
I lost count at how many times I woke up in the night. I wasn't cold, just stuff going round in my head.
Well, 'Youngest' hasn't yet got the apprenticeship he wants as yet but he does have full time employment starting today. Like his Dad he will be in the contract industry and he's had to go self employed. He'll still get his apprenticeship at some point but until he does, he'll be getting good experience and will be able to save some towards his driving lessons/test/car.
Oh well, best get started. The 'Girls' are barking for attention. They want their breakfast.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Morning everyone.
Been MIA as the new router hasn't arrived yet! Found out that the original order had been cancelled as the router was out of stock (no phone call or text) so had to be re-ordered. The BT bloke very kindly sent it out for a Saturday delivery but of course it still hasn't arrived yet. So we had an internet free weekend.
In the office now where it seems that everyone has a cold, our wee room is smelling menthol crystals and Olbas Oil. Had a good run down from home this morning, only two hours door to door and only had to overtake one big lorry in the dark. The moon was that beautiful crescent and the sky was clear so I could see all the stars out twinkling away in the freezing cold - was a lovely sight.
Sorry if I have missed anything significant, will read back the threads later today.
Hope everyone is well and warm.0
