Lucky you!!! I love Turkey! The weather will be lovely now, settled with clear blue skies, sunny but not too hot. Don't know where Belek is. I have been several times to the Olu Deniz and Fethiye area, on the Aegean Coast, where most places accept sterling. I went this year to Side, on the Mediteranean Coast which is very much geared up to German and Scandinavian visitors, and mostly takes Euros.

I tend to take about £50 turkish Lira with me for tips and snacks etc when I first arrive, and then take the rest in Sterling and change it as I go along. There are plenty of cash machines in the towns, and we found that the hotel gave a good rate of exchange too (tho that isn't always the case).

Have a great time - I am so jealous!!!

Well 1st of all I dont care what they pay.

My problem with it is, its a ten pound note, not Turkish Lira. I dont remember getting a visa its more like paying an entrance fee.

We payed 80 quid to get visas for china had to fill in loads of forms with our pictures, go to the embassy in Manchester and had our passports sent off and came back with a full page visa inserted into it.

Happy? No not one bit I was having a fit, calling them all the names under the sun (not to their faces of course) but at least it felt real.

In turkey its like some Del boy has set up a stall to take money of the tourists.

Well when we went last July we got 3 lovely stickers put in pasports for our money, better than USA where we got the visa and then it was ripped off when we left so we got just the stump.
