Anyone heard of sourceanycar.com? (Leeds)

Hi,

We've seen a car we want to buy, but can't find any info at all on the company online. They don't take credit cards, not even for the deposit so it's made me wary as we wouldn't have that added protection.

Does anyone know about this company at all? Their garage is based in Leeds.

Many thanks.

Why can you not source a car yourself?

Sounds like an agent scouring t'interweb and future auctions

Is the car particularly rare/in demand ??

Bit of an odd comment! I have sourced it, I've scoured the internet for a few weeks, and this garage has the car I want. Not sure what you mean by source myself, surely like most people you search around online/in person and try to find what you want that way?

k3lvc - it does seem to be hard to get hold of. On the whole of Autotrader there are only 30 that have the spec/age etc that we want, and even within those some aren't quite what we're after regardless of price.

This is the first one we've seen that is spot on everything we're after, so it'll be shame if we can't trust them to buy.

I'm happy doing bank transfer, but only with a company I'm either familiar with, or can comfortably research to my satisfaction. But this particular garage I can't find any info about either way - for good or bad. So at the moment I wouldn't be happy without credit card to fall back on unfortunately.

Was just hoping maybe someone on here had come across them.

DUTR - I've just realised, when you ask if I can't source it myself, do you mean why can't I buy it privately rather than from a garage?

I'd be happy to do either tbh, but as I say I've struggled to find hardly any, and it just happens that this one is with a garage.

What concerns me, and perhaps I misunderstood your opening post. Is that for me and anyone I know directly, other than brand new, I would not be parting with any money by any means for a car I have not physically inspected. However the company you mention, may just have a fancy name of sourceanycar as opposed to they will source the car for their customers for a fee.

Odd selection of cars some seemingly still taxed and one a Fiesta that has not been taxed since March ???

    Galaxy not taxed since Sept.

Ah right, I see what you mean. No they don't charge any extra. We just saw a listing on Autotrader, and it happened to be with this company. It's not a situation where we've contacted them and said 'please can you source this car for us', they've just had the car come in on Friday and it happens to be what we want.

I agree re not parting with any money, however I'd have been happy to pay a deposit of say £200 or something via credit card - we've done that before, subject to car being as per description etc on inspection.

As Leeds isn't that near, we'd hoped to pay deposit on the phone, then go inspect, collect and pay balance in person next weekend, as it'd be a full day trip.

But as they don't take credit cards, I'm definitely not happy to pay a deposit via any other mechanism. Which means we either need to go next weekend and see it, and then pay in full if happy. Or just forget it and keep on looking until another comes up with another garage.

Even if we go see it in person, I wouldn't be happy purchasing if I can't find out any info about the garage themselves. And so far I've still come up with absolutely nothing at all unfortunately.

Really annoying as we'd wanted to get a car before Christmas, and as there are hardly any of these around I'm not sure there's much chance another will come up anytime soon. But I'm certainly not willing to risk it unless I can get some feedback on them.

Well according to this http://goo.gl/maps/DwDph the place does physically exist but it's not in the most pleasant of areas. If it's something specialist you're looking for then unless it's an absolute bargain and you can afford to be throwing the money away I'd be looking elsewhere - out of interest which of the cars is it you're after

I think I've pretty much decided against it now. Because although I couldn't find out any info on the actual garage, the person that the domain is registered to I've found also has another site called sourcebydesign.co.uk that sells lighting and various other things.

And that site has the same physical address quoted which just seems odd to me.

So in the absence of any other information, I think this is enough to put me off and have to start looking again.

Looks unlikely we'll find another one this side of Christmas though :-(

Yeah it did look like an odd spot for a garage. But see my comment above, it's ringing alarm bells that both this garage, and another totally unrelated lighting company with a very similar name (and same person registered as owning them) are at the same physical address!

It was the Range Rover Evoque we're after. We want the new engine which limits us to only the very newer ones, and we also want a very specific spec. There are quite a lot of Evoques around, but only about 31 on autotrader that match what we want at the moment so it's a pain to find one we can travel to.
