Are home made fish fingers easy?

I imagine that you just cut some fish up, then roll in egg and breadcrumbs and oven cook for 30mins.

Are they really that easy? I have lots of white fish to use up and the youngest wants fish fingers.

Any tips? Thanks :)

It really is as easy as that. However I shallow fry rather then oven bake

    Thanks Suki :)

Just been looking on youtube and everyone rolls in seasoned flour first, then egg and then breadcrumbs. So that's what I'll try as well.

The fish I have is frozen, so I have to defrost it first I think?

To make your fish go further you can mix it with mashed potato, shape into fingers then do the rolling....
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Thanks McKneff, that's a good idea. So I would have to flake the fish first, then mix with the potato and do the coating?
  • 1lb Mashed Seasoned Tatties

    Let cool,mand crush them spuds.
Mix together and roll in grease proof paper, baking paper to tube like item.
Pop in freezer for twent minutes. This firms them up.

Grill, shallow fry or oven bake. Serve with mushy peas, not haryy's, but can of marrow fats, simmer vigorously till mushy. Server. Enjoy.

Would you be able to know that Blackbeard? Most frozen white fish just says white fish it is rare you get told what it is unless it is premium. Then you pay at least £4 for two small pieces. They certainly don't often tell you with fish fingers.

I did wonder about this thinking who would want to make fish fingers they are usually the cheapest form of fish?

I would buy the kids some fish fingers and make something nice like Blackbeard's fish cakes or a fish pie, for you and your OH or any other adults there for tea.

I have white fish, plus everything else needed for making fish fingers and don't see the point in buying them when I can make them. besides, I enjoy trying out new things :)
