We have exchanged on the house we are buying and move in on the 9th, the rented house we are in is in our name until 19th. when we moved in there were a few problems, the oven was dirty inside, first time we used it the smoke alarm went off. LL had done some painting and the brush was in the utility room sink and the paint tin was still by the outside wall.
Just making the point it was not perfect, started some heavy final cleaning today, the shower is downstairs which we never liked with PVC floor tiles, as I cleaned them hard about 3 nearest the shower were lifting, I had noticed the edges were a little curled, we had a bath mat there so possibly had not noticed. Do I point this out to the LL who is doing a viewing tomorrow, try to stick them down myself or just do the cleaning, would the LL charge for tiling the floor? we have rented for 12 months.
The last three houses we rented we used cleaners when we left them and on the last one we still got complaints and had to get some areas redone, this one I have the time to go back after the move to finish off everything else but worried about the tiles

It sounds like ancient tiles. Does the check-in inventory mention the condition of them? If not the LL would be hard pressed to claim anything from your deposit. You just need to say they were worn and curling when you moved in. If the bath mat is over them during the check out they may well not be noticed in any case.
If there is a change beyond normal wear and tear according to the condition noted at check in, you would have liability but they cannot claim betterment so it would only be a proportion of the cost of putting it right.0 -
Hi, thanks for the info, LL is coming tonight with a prospective tenant, she has not visited in the last 12 months but she has been nice in her e mails while we have been waiting for our house purchase to go through.0
