Lightbulb painting?

I've had a bit of a search on the web and nothing conclusive so thought I'd ask to see if anyone has a safe recommendation. There are various options but they seems to be for crafting. This is for everyday use.

I want to cover parts of a lightbulb to create a certain lighting effect, similar I suppose to the various 'silvering' options you can buy retail.

Has anyone done this with success and can recommend?

Thanks.

Not sure about paint, I think it might peel off, but I would imagine you could do it with a Sharpie pen.

    Edit: There you go.

Thanks for that, but if you browse through the links provided it still seems to be used for decorative purposes and in one instance shown not to have any good effect when the bulb is lit. Also some people talk about possible hazards. Bit wary of taking that risk.

When I worked for the Navy many years ago. They always painted their lamp bulb in various colours, if required. It was a perfectly normal thing to do. As to whether it was a special paint, I cannot say. But I suspect, not.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
