Unwanted Paypal Payment

I recently sold an item and listed Cheque or Postal Order as payment methods accepted. The buyer sent money by Paypal. I have refused payment and asked buyer to send a Cheque, but how has he been able to use Paypal if I haven't specified it in the description or on the invoice. Obviously I have a Paypal account but only use it for buying. Any help will be gratefully received, Thanks.

He has used your email address on the assumption that you have an account.
Do you *have* a PP account? If so, refund it. If not, he's made a stupid error. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Thanks for the reply, I do have a Paypal account, but I thought that unless I specified Paypal as payment method they wouldn't be able to use it. I have refused it, but is there any way to stop it happening. Thanks.0

As long as your listings don't show the paypal logos, and you make sure the address for paypal payments is left blank, *most* people will understand that you don't accept paypal. My TV is broken!

If the email address that you have registered with eBay is the same as the email address you have registered with Paypal then there's not much you can do to stop it, as some people may just send payment to the email address they get from eBay.
If you want to prevent this from happening, then you need to change your registered eBay email address so that it is different than the one that you use for Paypal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -
Thanks, I think i'll change my eBay registered email address.0
