Am I the only one who thinks this is crazy ?
If I sold you a car with no mot,I wouldn't expect you to cough up the money to get its ticket !
It looks like I will be expected to pay for work on the house I would like to buy, which I wouldn't mind doing once I own the thing. But paying up beforehand is not sitting well with me.
I know the option is to negotiate with the seller, but how long is that going to take. They have divorced,so every conversation has to go 3 ways..
Why anyone ever moves house I don't know !!..

Umm, what?
So you're buying a house and have been asked to pay for repairs to it before you complete the sale? Why?0 -
What on earth are you talking about. Paying for work on a property you want to own, before you own it, is insane. Can you elaborate?0

Paying up beforehand is most probably a stupid thing to do0

is it for eg putting in a kitchen sink to render it mortgageable?2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000

It's a porch that fell foul of the mortgage survey, if I remember rightly.
Give us the grisly detail - I'm sure some of the mortgage-wise can advise.
I'm more handy with a sledge hammer !0 -
so you don't have to repair it - you only have to repair it if you want a mortgage? seems fair!2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000

Just pay up. Everyone does it.0
