Upper eyelid lift

Hi all,

Bit of a random thread but I wondered if anyone had any experience of this procedure? I think the official term is blephoplasty but on the upper eyelids not the lower.

The reason I ask is that I have excess skin on one of my eyelids. I am only 30 and have always looked after my skin to avoid wrinkes and crows feet, but this is something I've always had.

It bothers me on and off but recently it's been getting me down. I don't like having my photo taken as one of my eyes always looks (well, it is!) less open that the other. It also makes eye make up a pain as sometimes eyeliner just rubs on the skin (there is no crease for it to rub in!)

I know this is very much a 'first world problem' but I am interested to hear of people's experiences. Does anyone have the same issue? Have any of you had surgery? Is it something that is only done on older (no offence meant) people?

Thanks in advance.

My mum had this procedure done in July. She's always had hooded eye lids and decided that the time was right to get an upper eye lift as they seemed to be drooping more with age (she is 56).

It seems to have gone very well for her, she had a couple of consultations with the surgeon beforehand to make sure everything was ok to go ahead. She was in and out in the same day, with an appointment to go back in 2 weeks time to get the stitches out. She wasnt nearly as bruised as I thought she would be (I was imagining great big black eyes!) and she told me that it wasnt as uncomfortable afterwards as she thought it would be.

The swelling went down within a couple of weeks and really after about 3 weeks you wouldnt have known she had recently had a procedure. The scars are well hidden and its made a big difference to her.
