Hello All
Starting the thread off...
Sorry but I can't copy the preamble we usually have on a mobile but to paraphrase...

When we start our DFW journies it is easy to make huge progress, cancelling the Sky subscription, cutting up the credit cards but this thread is about what small things you will do today to ensure you stay on the DFW path.
This is a lovely thread full of supportive people who love to hear each others DF efforts. Come and join in!

    Hi All
Up early and realised I am guilty of always waiting for someone else to start the thread so I am!

Today we will be going to a free local family fun day that promises balloons, board games & colouring in. All high on your wish list if you are 5 ;)
I am trying to stick to a shopping budget of £40 per week. I have managed that religiously but last week went £20 over. I put this down to reaching the stage of running out of several condiments in the same week. Amazing how the things that you only use a dab of per meal but that make it even nicer really add up. This week I have £9 left for today and tommorow which is great. I plan to buy a pack of mince for £2 pad it out with breadcrumbs and veg then use half for a lasagne tonight and half for a chilli tommorow. With that as my meal plan I will only need a can of red kidney beans, some chopped toms, cheese, salad leaves & some cheap garlic bread and we shall eat like kings for 2 days.
Later will be taking son to a birthday party. I will give the birthday girl a card from the draw, & wrap a gift from my stash in pre loved paper. I used to spend around £10 per kids party till I wised up to the 25p cards that sainsburys do & started stocking a gifts draw. I found a make your own kite set for 24p in the mark down section of sainsburys. And anyone who only uses wrapping paper once is a fool!
Will use up the floor money at the self service check out as don't see any point in saving small amounts around the house. Make your money work for you I say.
    right think that's me.

    Morning!

Daily lurker and occasional poster, thanks for starting us off Bob!

    Today I will
Food from stores, except dinner which housemate is cooking so small contribution to that-hopefully will be cheaper than a takeaway!
    Sort out fridge shelf
Clean bathrooms (have chucked bleach down the loos already!)
One load of washing on ATM, take advantage of sunny day to dry on the line rather than the tumble dryer
Pop into town to pick up train tickets, avoid the shops, need nothing!
    Revision :(
List a few things on Ebay tomorrow night
    Vacuum house

Mostly things to distract myself from spending and distract myself from revision!

    Have lovely days everyone x

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Well a little update. After I went shopping I popped into Next as it's my husbands birthday this month and he's been after a new pair of jeans. We've been looking out in charity shops but no luck in his exact size. Anyway. I got him to try on a few pairs in Next. Long story short using a Next online voucher which they gave us in store we can go home and order the pair of jeans that are £25 in store for only £15 as you get £10 off using the voucher. Also, once we set that order up and pay for it we can get a further £20 off on another order. I could really do with some new basics long sleeved t shirts as I wear mine to death so will be using the credit for that. I thought it worth sharing in case anyone else has birthdays coming up or Xmas gifts in mind.

and on that note if you sign up for a toys r us card this month which is just like a loyalty card not a store card, you are able to earn £75 cash back (in store vouchers) on only £100 spent. Obviously you have to spend money to get the vouchers but if you are planning to buy your children's main present in TRUS anyway it might be worth while having.

well, my card got cloned on Thursday and thankfully the bank spotted it and called me, card is cancelled so a no spend day today was easy....

I've also sorted through my toiletries and now have a box of little bottles of shampoo and conditioner etc (part used travel sizes etc) that were filling the cupboard. I'll use these before I buy any more.

I'm using a free trial on Audible to listen to a book I wanted to listen to rather than buy it. I've put a note in my diary to cancel the membership.

    Hello

Thanks for starting the thread Bobarella

    Today I have:
Got paid for my sales and paid next months rent for my sales unit :)
Hoovered through downstairs due to moulting dog and rampant spiders
Made a nice leek and potato soup that isn't full of cream - googled 'leek and potato soup no cream' and up it came :)

DD and her OH and baby came for (early due to baby's bedtime) dinner, so I made potato, leek and cheese bake, which we had with baked beans and sausages for those who wanted them. Also made plum crumble which we had with a dollop of Greek yogurt (yum)

You will see there is a bit of a leek theme here - we had to dig up quite a few to make space for the fruit trees we planted yesterday, so I wanted to use them up while they were nice and fresh :)

    I had a no spend day :D

Have a nice evening everyone :)

Hello all, I love reading all your contributions and getting ideas.

    Today I've:

Had family over for a Halloween party and stuck to my strict shopping list. Normally I overcater but I was far more sensible today, and any leftovers will do me during the week.

Did my washing and got it on the line early.

Did a bit of garden tidying.

Took my dog for a lovely long walk - both had a nap when we got home!

I went to check my bank balance online but nothing is showing up yet despite it being the 1st. Annoyed because I really want to know what I've got left, though thanks to my budgeting app I have a good idea of what I can spend.

Nothing planned for tomorrow so it will be a no spend day. My favourite type of day!
