Investing small amounts regularly

I want to make a small monthly investment into an index tracker every month, but I don't really know how to go about it.

Would I be able to do this through a Stocks and Shares ISA?

Yes. You're probably best to choose a platform or broker to hold your ISA with, select the tracker you want and set up a regular monthly payment plan. Some platforms offer regular payment plans with reduced dealing fees and remember to check that the platform offers the specific tracker you want before signing up. All platforms charge differently (fixed fees, percentage fees, even no ongoing fees). Monevator is a good place to start to check out the various options:

S&S ISA with Charles Stanley Direct would be a good fit for you. Regular investments can start from £50 and they have a platform charge of 0.25%, which is very competitive. A platform charge is how much they'll take off you in fees (plus any charges from the funds that you choose to invest in). CSD have a wide range of cheap index tracking funds, including the popular ones from Vanguard.
