Absolutely no need to be sarcastic?
Think again. A two year bond will only gross you 2.1% maximum. Whereas a balance between 3k and 20k in a Santander 123 current account will gross you 3% and your money isn't tied up!
A TSB Classic Plus current account will gross you 5% on a 2k balance. There are others too, like Tesco current account, it pays 3% on a balance of 3k. Lloyds Club current account pays 4% on a balance betwen 4k and 5k. Bank of Scotland pays 3% on a balance of 5k.
There's a few hoops to jump through to get the above.
Or maybe go for something like a Santander 123 account, it pays 3% on a balance up to £20K (providing you can meet the conditions, which is simple to do) and it is easy access - you don't have to lock your money away.
You are allowed one single and one joint 123 account, so can put away up to £60k in 3 accounts.
I have got some fixed rate bonds, but I make use of my Santander 123 accounts first because to get 3% in a FRB you would have to lock your money away for something like 5 years.
