O/S Daily Thread Wednesday 29th October

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Good morning everyone :)

Back in work for a day then off for a nice long weekend for end of DH's half term.

Not much going on at the moment but we did make a start yesterday on clearing some stuff out of our loft conversion. The bin is full, there are several bags of clothes for the charity shop and have made a start on filling boxes of books for there too.

Need to catch up on the thread later and read everyone's news. Sorry for being missing and not contributing every day but feel like I am too miserable and don't even have anything truly OS to say at the moment. Will try harder!

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a lovely day

Morning :hello:

TTFTM I'm not really OSing much at the moment either. No energy, lol. I'm not happy either. I hope your long weekend is relaxing xx

I've made the house 'mine' again. The others are just not good at keeping it how I like it :D I almost moved at normal speed too, lol. I didn't have time to crochet but I'll definitely get to it before the end of the week.

Work this morning but I think one of the bosses will be back by around 11am so I'll be home before lunch. Which is good, I was wide awake at 4.30am and could do with a couple of hours of sleep this afternoon :D

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, appears to be dry underfoot, but don’t know about the temperature as I haven’t ventured outside.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS2 getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was chicken and salad wraps, HM egg fried rice and HM coleslaw – clean plates all round. Remembered to get the meat out to defrost so tonight we will be having beef stew and dumplings, potatoes and veg.

Yesterday I managed to sit and do some ironing, so I can now see my dining room table and we all have ironed clothes! Felt good that I’d managed to do some little jobs, makes you feel more positive. Yesterday I also managed to get another line of washing dry on the line, so I’ll do that ironing sitting down on my bed and so will then be up to date with everything that’s clean and dried will be ironed.

Later I’ll be doing a menu plan for next week so I can check that I have everything needed, I’ll adjust my on line shopping order if needed.

Take care x

Keep safe and well x

The lodger's been fed & had his morning constitutional, the fish have been fed & hubby & I have a cuppa, everyone is now asleep except me! DW is on & I've hung washing on the line.
I've got very little done of the stuff I planned due to a combination of the lodger liking lots of cuddles & constant trips upstairs with tea, sandwiches for hubby, and to change dressings etc.
I can't use my sewing machine as the lodger sits on my feet if I try & that makes the machine go too fast.
Today, hubby is back at the Dr's, DGD is going home, the lodger is being collected & I need to go shopping. I really need to start my mead today before I run out of time & make my mincemeat so the brandy has time to soak in.
TTFM & Tru, I hope you both feel better soon, NMLC, glad you are improving.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning All

It's stopped raining! It cleared up about lunch time yesterday. I have stripped my bed and will get DD to do hers when she gets up. Not sure it's going to last but will make the most of it. I emptied the hanging baskets yesterday - I think I will get some pansies/violas to match one that's already done. Just wanted to be outside as I feel we have been in for ages. It has turned a lot cooler though.

Baked pot for tea last night, DD had cheese and I had mushy peas (odd I know but I like it, makes DD feel queezy!). Chicken stir fry tonight DW chugging away, WM on and off to work for me.

Managed to sort some drawers in my room yesterday, I am trying to empty it out so I can decorate. Wardrobe tonight and then I can dismantle it and take it to the tip. Don't even want to offer it on freegle as it has a big chip in it and has been dismantled a couple of times so probably wont go back together again!

TTFTM - Keep posting even if you don't feel you have done anything OS, I often feel like that, hope you feel better soon and enjoy your long weekend.
tru - glad you are feeling a bit better, always good when you re-take control!

Hugs to all, especially if you are feeling unwell or down. Take care XX

Morning everyone.

After a terrible storm yesterday the skies have cleared. Driving on the M80 was truly awful so it was lovely to have a clear drive this morning. The road to my home was blocked yesterday so fingers crossed for me going up on Thursday.

Have reached the point where nothing else needs bought for the house :j and the pot will start to be filled back up again.

Just had breakfast at work - a handful of cashew nuts and a big banana. Have resolved to have a week of no coffee or tea so on Monday night I had a headache though now it's beginning to fade away and the water is keeping me more alert.

Lunch is pea and ham soup ( I love pea/mint/ham soup) and chicken breast. Can't believe I'm so organised!

Work is just yeugh... but I'm not down a coal mine or out in the rain making roads so not too many complaints, only a tiny wee grumble.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Happy Wednesday.

Sistercas - have you thought about a rapid referral to Occupational Health Physio?

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good Morning all, well Monday's day in London was nice if tiring. We got to the Tower to see the poppies along with about a million others so our views wern't brilliant.I have honestly never seen so many people there ever.It was 10 deep all around the place!!! and when we went back down onto the tube there were hundreds more pouring off the trains.Still what we saw was very moving. We then went to the Museum of London a great gem of a place in the Barbican and well worth a trip if you are near enough and have children(free as well) :):).Eventually got home about 6.30 tired but enjoyed every minute.Yesterday I was at the hospital having my inplant inflated again:) Bit uncomfortable but the end result will be worth it.Today we are taking the boys to Down House (Darwins home) as I have English Heritage tickets so another freebie. We will take a picnic lunch so it won't be a big money spending day today(although the forecast is a bit wet so we'll probably eat in the car.Really enjoying the half term with DD and the boys.
Just going to have some breakfast now and make the coffee flask up.I may take a flask of soup as well as the weather is a bit nippier.DD will make the rolls and I have some goodies in the cupboard so a hopefully low-cost day out.
have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers JackieO xxx
