O/S Daily Thread Wednesday 22nd October

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Real hi and fly by this morning as running late.

Very sad today as first staff go and it includes someone I have worked with for a very long time :(

  • Morning all
We seem to have two threads today.
    TTFM, how horrible for you.
    NMLC, sounds yummy.
Busy day for me at work, yet again a job that someone else has had sat on their desk for 3 weeks has been dumped on me, when they realise just how much work is involved. I'm have a discussion with my line manager about it. I'm more than happy to do the job, but I'm very resentful of the 'I'm bored with this now, I'll dump it over there, mentality.
Moan over, fish fed (waves to JackieO) hubby has a cuppa as do I. My packup is made, hubby's is is the fridge, he's going stir crazy, but need to rest his feet as much as he can.
Time I set off for work.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Hello all:hello:

Another horrible day here. Unfortunatly we have to head out in it this afternoon to do the food shop. Nothing else planned for the day bar a little bit of de cluttering and General tidying

I hope everyone has a safe and OS day
    NOT BUYING IT 2018!

Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.

    Morning everyone.

Start of the day looks a lot better than yesterday. It's calm out there which is encouraging. We all had a day on the sofa yesterday. Had my bloods taken and then had my boiling tap installed in the kitchen...loved it even if I am still a little nervous of it.

Today we're off to climb up an ancient coronation hill, go look for the beavers (or just walk the beaver trail) and have lunch somewhere. Fingers crossed for the rain to hold off.

I'm feeling so much better for having a good rest last week so it's back to work on Monday. Feel refreshed.

Breakfast is bacon and eggs. Rest of day to be determined, will be decided later depending where we are.

Hope everyone has a good day too.

    Happy Wednesday.
  • Good morning all,

A great deal calmer here this morning, thank goodness.

TTFTM thank you for starting today's thread.

GERS glad you are feeling better, sometimes a good rest is just what we need.

I am off to have my nails done today, and Himself will pop to DD for a coffee after dropping me off. I know it isn't very OS, but it is my treat to myself. I don't drink or smoke and we don't go out in the evening and Himself positively encourages me :)

Prepared some of the hampers yesterday which I am giving for Christmas and I am really pleased with them. Sent for bags from Am**on, and once you have made the hamper up use a hairdryer to shrink the bag, looks very profrssional.

    Have a good day everyone

  • ELONA have been thinking of you and DH, and hope treatment is going OK. You must both be tired from the travelling as well so take care and look after yourselves.

    Much love

  • Good Morning everyone, it's much calmer here today and blue skied but it's quite a lot cooler than of late and we still have a fair breeze blowing.

I have the joys of a dental check up at lunchtime but it comes under the heading of necessary maintenance and my dentist is a pleasant fellow so I'm not worried by going. Nice spot of the day will be supper at the pub and the Wednesday quiz evening which is always fun and makes our little brain pigeons flap about quite a lot looking for appropriate answers. We've come to the conclusion that we are very much NOT mainstream and know some extremely odd and obscure things which come to light and surprise us even!!!

Have a good day all and GERS I hope your weather gives you a lovely day to do whatever your fancy takes for the rest of the day, enjoy, Lyn xxx.

    Good Morning,

    Thinking of you all.

Been feeling rough the last couple of days, stomach ache, sick and fibromyalgia aches so not sure what it is. Hubby also had the feeling sick.

Will probably need to cancel my weekly visit to the parents as I don't wish to pass any bug on, especially as dad is mum's carer now.

If I pick up later I need to tidy up the house ready for potential viewings. Oh joy!

Has anyone see jlhd666 posting lately? (I may her user name slightly wrong!)

Candlelight, the hampers sound very nice. Are they food hampers? Sorry, if you have already said, my memory has not kicked in yet today.;):o

    Until later.

    Hi everyone,

Gers, we had a boiling water tap put in 6 years ago when we had the kitchen done and we love it - everyone who visits wants one as well.

I'm sorry this is going to be a very boring post because things are just jogging along here, I'm trying to clean the cupboards in the kitchen before my sis-I-law comes next week.

A question for those of you who make sloe gin. I made some a few weeks ago and put it in a dark place as instructed. It also said to turn it every day but because it's out of sight I keep forgetting, do you think it matters. I turn it every time I remember.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all,

Definitely a better day here, was amazed at there being no wind at all. When I got home from work yesterday the paper recycling was all over the garden :(
Did some more clearing out last night and have more things out of the spare room that needs emptied. Did get distracted when I found old pics and mementos! I've also decided to push myself with some projects that have been plannd for years, I decided to do a srapbook for the holidays I've taken (6 in total) and only ever did the first one. I have what I need for the others just never got them done. It's now in piles in the living room where I can't forget about it! I've also looked out the frames I bought for artwork projects in the already decorated spare room.
Posted some bits for sale on GT and FB so hopefully they will go giving me some money and decluttering a bit more. Called Sky to cancel the multi room which will save a bit too.

Plan for today is to contact my pension supplier to discuss consolidating my plans (I have three atm due to different work places). This will save me a little each month too as I had to set up a DD to one of them.
Delivering one FB sale item to a non driver, visit the gym and I might try to do one or two of these scrapbooks or tackle some more of the spare room.

TTFTM sorry to hear about the staff going, it's a horrible situation to be in.
Hester I hate that too, I work in AP and the amount of times invoices appear on my desk after weeks of sitting on the wrong persons desk is shocking.

Hugs to those who need/want them,
Hope you're all warm and dry today.
