virgin mp3 player

Can anyone confirm whether the initial balance transfer to the Virgin card is enough to trigger the mp3 player being sent out, or do I actually have to make a purchase on the card?

No idea. I suggest you phone Virgin and ask them.
  • I phoned them last week when my card arrived to ask them the very same
question. You have to make a purchase. So I did, my MP3 player should
arrive in the next 3 weeks, I'll let you know if/when it comes and what it's like.
  • I'm using my card for stoozing, so I have to avoid purchases as I would be paying interest on them for the full 0% term. So I'll just make one very small value purchase methinks.

    Thanks

I made a small purchase and payed it off before making the balance transfer. This was about 2 or 3 weeks ago now so hopefully the mp3 player will be winging it's way to me soon :D

The terms and conditions that I saw said you would sent the gift after "first use" of the card, it did not say "after your first purchase". I'd say a balance transfer is use of the card and would argue you don't need to make a purchase.

When i did my balance transfer a couple of weeks ago, the lady on the phone told me it did count and i would receive my gift in a few weeks!
  • I made a very small value purchase to ensure I get my gift without hassles, suprisingly I really want my free gift this time, my previous watches from MBNA I never took out of the box.

Thor, expect to pay interest on your purchase each month, even though you paid off the balance before you made the balance transfer, your payment is not added to your account until end of the period by which time you have done your balance transfer so your payment will be deducted from your balance transfer >:(

Oh well, I had heard about that but as I had never made a purchase on a card used for stoozing I though I'd risk it. This was because I did not want to leave it too late since it the offer did state somewhere that mp3 players will be provided only until stock runs out(which it may have done as I have not got mine yet). At least the interest won't cripple me financially, my purchase was only a fiver ;D

Ok, so just to be safe i made a purchase of £1.16 at Sainsbury today. I have already transferred £8250 into my account. Can anyone work out how much interest i will pay on my purchase!!!???
I better get the mp3 player

Lets assume an astronomical rate of 100%APR. In that case if you paid interest for a full year you would pay £1.16

I assume you will be charged less and not keep the debt for a year.
