There is definitely NO fan on the 4000TL, that is a FACT.0 -

You may find that ....
http://files.sma.de/dl/5692/SB30TL_40TL_50TL-IA-IEN120231.pdf ... makes good reading, especially the section on cleaning the fan unit (section 8) ....
I don't think that I've heard the fan on ours cut-in, but then again it's in a relatively cool place so the Opticool heatsink will be running in a pure passive mode ... I'd guess that the fan only runs when it's tested at start-up ...

My model is Samil 4000TL-D-3.68KW Dual MPPT and is a NO fan design - the product manual states no fan design for higher reliability and lower noise.
Suggest you contact Samil Power Co. Ltd - 0118 402 9490 their customer service dept. will give you the correct infor. As I said NO FAN.0 -

Then I don't understand why you're disagreeing with everybody. You have a Samil inverter and have missed an important point .... everybody else is discussing along the lines of the topic ... "do you have to apply for DNO permission if having a SMA 4000tl inverter?" .... therefore, a completely different manufacturer .... SMA, not Samil .... looks like there's no need to contact Samil Power then as it's completely irrelevant ....
Many years ago someone gave me some sound advice which certainly stands the test of time ..... "Think before you act, think twice before you speak and think thrice before you argue" ...

Thank you, I usually do sleep well but it's nice to know that someone cares .... anyway, I read the profile as being 'travellerboy' but am really quite bewildered as to why a different name would be used to sign the referenced post  ....
Anyway, thanking you again for being so considerate, especially after making such a fundamental error, I myself would have been so embarrassed and the last thing on my mind would have been to compare my own level of perfection to that of another, let alone take time to think of their wellbeing ... it just goes to show, there are some really, really nice people out there ...
