Just curious but seems my wheel geometry might be slighty out .

Any ideas what it costs to get the wheels tracked these days and can assume that I just need to get the fronts done?

Thanks as usual

  • will depend on the car, some cars need to have all four wheel to be tracked due to independent rear suspension set up, some cars the fronts are the only ones that can be tracked due to fixed rear rigid axle.

expect a laser alignment for the front to range form £25-£45.00 all wheel alignment £65.00 -£125.00 depending on the amount of work involved in tracking them up.

so long as you buy from tires from them, their not going to use a ramp for free they have overheads, and the overhead is free tracking "test" when you purchase something but youll pay for the tracking if its out.

If your tyres don't wear unevenly, the car doesn't squeal from the tyres when performing relatively low speed manoeuvres, your car drives and pulls up in straight line and you haven't replaced a worn out major steering component and you haven't whacked a kerb or a pothole you really don't need tracking checked as a maintenance item.

Could you actually trust Kwik Fit and the other tyre places to test your car for free, them honestly tell you that it doesn't and you go on your way? Hasn't there been reports of those chains purposely lying about things like this so you have to spend?

The only reason these tests are free is to get you in the door so they can sell their oh so wonderful products and services.

Independent garage all the way. The small guys value their reputations much more and so protect it likewise.
