ebay ripoff fees

Over the years I have found the fees extortionate especially when you're selling stuff for a couple of quid.
I actually made a loss once after paypal took their fees. I think low priced items should be exempt from from the 20p on top of 3.4% if they want to encourage more honesty from sellers.
Now that ebay charges are inclusive of the p&p, they should scrap the maximum p&p charges. Again, sometimes even this is unrealistic.0 -

I use a PayPal micro account for my small sales, so pay a set 5p rather than 20p (plus a percentage) on my sales.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Never heard of a micro account before, sounds interesting.
Nowadays if I have a clear out I just chuck the low value items. Too much effort to take pics and ebay them, along with packaging and shipping them too.
Although over time it did build up but not worth the time and effort now.0 -
So why doesn't ebay simply take the fees out of the selling price straight away, instead of waiting for a month to deduct them? Then people would see exactly how much they are making?
Why does ebay force sellers to offer paypal, and then double dip on fees? It is the same organisation, since everyone has to use it, why not combine the fee totals?
How can a percentage of postage be justified? All it does is force up postage costs.
You can pay the fees as soon as your buyer pays you, no need to wait until ebay invoice you.
If they combined ebay & Paypal fees that would cut out sellers who offer collection on their items with payment in cash on pick up.
They probably started charging a fee on the postage costs becasue of all the idiots who thought they could beat the system by selling an item for 99p & then charging £100 for postage.
Try local selling sites, Gumtree & Facebook, who at the moment don't charge if you're not happy paying to use ebay.0 -
the thing that annoys me most about the fees is that we all pretty much use paypal as a payment method but you get stung on ebay fees and then paypal fees"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0

I don't visit for a while and come back to find Brooker Dave STILL talking the same drivel!!! Old habits and all that I guess!
Why do these threads keep coming up now? This is all such old news. You'd have thought people would know by now. On another note, British Rail have been privatised, I can't believe it!!0
