E-Bay Click & Collect

I am selling some items on E-Bay for the first time in over a year and have noticed that things have changed with regard to postage costs. I also read an announcement today about Click & Collect postage but I don't understand how it works. Does it just mean that I add the postage cost to the starting price, then list it as free postage, with no option for local collection, and select one of the carriers in the list? Is this better than listing the postage separately? And do they all have to be taken to Argos stores? This Click and Collect option doesn't seem to be connected to the carrier called 'Click & Collect', which I have used in the past and had nothing to do with Argos.

Sorry for the confusing message, but I'm confused!

You just list as normal. Charging postage or adding it to the start price, whichever you prefer. If your buyer decides they want to click and collect then the address to send it to will be their local Argos store and you will need to put in a reference number in the address. It really is no different to sending it to their home address, you just put the address given for the Argos store.

The buyer then goes to the Argos store to collect it when they get told it arrives.

Click and collect only applies to items with free 1st class postage or better. If you charge postage, you will not be eligible for c+c.

It's also not available to all (as far as I know), only some sellers have been opted in to offer it. They're rolling it out slowly so it workss properly, then they can mess it up when everyone is using it;)

Just had my first Click & Collect order.
As my listing states 1st class recorded delivery I assume that Argos signs for it and the buyer just collects with their notification code/number which is also contained within the address on package.

Would Argos be able to prove collection in case the package was not signed for and just placed through their letter box or would Argos collect undelivered recorded mail from the local Royal Mail collection point?

items would be delivered to Argos during opening times. I have no idea whether the Argos system allows them to scan RM barcodes but I assume so.
Returns are collected from Argos stores by RM,so dont see any reason not to assume so.

I've had 2 Click and collect orders so far, both on 2nd class post (which is my default) - looking at my listings as a guest virtually all my items are C and C apart from those with postage as an additional cost.

To be safe I printed off postage using ebay postage as it warns the 'code' has to be in the correct format to work- so I thought if it does go wrong I can at least point out that ebay printed the label.
