Can someone help?

Thinking of entering into a debt arrangement scheme (scotland)
I have a loan and 3 credit cards - I have not missed any payments but a debt has caught up with me from 5 years ago- council tax and they have now arrested my wages- I had 2 jobs but contract ended on one- so now have less money and struggling. The loan was through amigo in 2012 my mother was my guarantor- sadly my mother died suddenly early 2013- company been given death cert etc and I struggled on and they let me pay without a guarantor, any money my mother had went to my father and estate settled.

Anyway will anything happen if I enter debt arrangement scheme? i.e. They won't chase after my father for my mothers money?

    Hello there,

All of your liabilities would be sorted via the Debt Arrangement Scheme. In theory they could try and make a claim against the estate although isn't something that we generally see a lot of. I cannot say for sure, but I do feel it is probably unlikely that they'll do that - especially since it's likely that they will, in time, get the full payment under the Debt Payment Programme that you'll be using.

    Very best wishes,

    David @ National Debtline.
