Returning An Ebay Purchase - Question Re Postage

Wondering if anyone can help me.
My girlfriend bought a sink for her bathroom from Ebay the other day. It cost her £19.99 and £15.00 to buy it (a total of £34.99).
She ordered it in silver blue to match her colour scheme, but the seller has sent her one in royal blue which doesn't really match with anything.
She's e-mailed the seller and they've replied saying they'll replace the item but only if she sends the royal blue one back to them first of all, which is fair enough - but they're saying they won't refund postage costs she has to pay to do so (another £15.00).
Can they legally do this? Effectively they have messed up by sending the wrong item, and now it's going to cost her another £15.00 to get the one she ordered in the first place.
Cheers for any information.

I am no expert but I would guess if your g/f made it clear that it was silver blue she wanted then they should have sent silver blue and not the royal blue. So I would guess its the seller responsibility to foot the bill for the postage.

Hiya,
I would also think that if it was clear what your gf ordered then it is the sellers problem.. They should of emailed to say that they could only offer the next best thing before sending it.
I am pretty sure she will have rights, perhaps drop another email to the seller threatening action from ebay? Or perhaps she should contact ebay and make them aware?
Sorry I can't be more help!
Good luck0 -
Yes,they made a mistake and they have to fix it at their expense.Your friend just has to tell them to collect it at their expense or refund return postage if she posts it.Make sure to keep all e-mail or other from the seller incase this goes to a dispute.
Businesses selling on the internet have to comply with distance selling laws and being liable for costs related to a mistake like this is part of that.
Ebay and Paypal will sort it out anyway even if the seller is a cad.
