Help for a newbie with her head in the sand!

Hi all, i recently signed up with a credit history website as i am trying to clear my debt and improve my credit rating, a few questions:

I once applied for a joint account with my husband (also has bad credit) but didn't go through with it, he is linked on my file, can i get him removed?

I ignored my debt for some time and now nearly all are with collection agencies; the ones that have written to me now all have a direct debit, but on my credit file it doesn't say that i have started paying the debt off, is this right, or am i being a complete newbie about it?

Studio express have 2 accounts on my file, both at £0- can i request these get taken off or closed? I emailed once but they never got back to me.

I have had a loan (amigo- terrible but all i could get) which i have never missed a payment on for the last 1.5y and i don't have an overdraft so the bank has never had a default on it.

Sorry for all the questions!

You may be able to give the CRA a notice of dissociation to remove the link, depending on whether you have any other joint financial product or dependencies. Contact the CRA to do this.

Defaulted accounts don't show anything to say they are being paid off once they have defaulted. They just stay at the status "default".

The only sign they are being paid off would be the remaining balance being updated every so often to show a lower figure.

No, as even closed accounts remain on your report for 6 years from the closure date.

    Hope the above helps.

  • Thank you so much! Knowing that it doesnt start showing that i am now paying makes me wonder why i am, as no increase on credit score? Will still do it obviosuly as wanting to live debt free & have some extra cash each month!
