Can i cancel after delivery of a Business vehicle?
snics
Last Thursday I took delivery of a new vehicle for my small business. I ordered online to replace same existing vehicle, but on arrival the new vehicle is longer than i want or able to use(Mitsubishi L200 pickup). I assumed I was ordering a standard bed length but these are not made anymore(so I was told on Friday) and it is only long bed.
Can I cancel, return and take back my old L200?

On what grounds?0

Potentially flimsy grounds. Vehicle is too long for some of the terrain I travel over, off-road for example, where the back end would dig in and for parking purposes where the standard bed is tight, the long bed could prove unworkable especially when unloading and working from the back0

No I mean on what grounds do you want to hand it back and "take back" your old one0

I changed the vehicle because I have had the original L200 for 5 years and I had the choice of paying a final payment or part exchanging for a new one. My old L200 is perfectly good, and is a standard bed length, in fact ideal for the various activities I use it for. I know from that experience that the longer bed length will be problematic as mentioned above. I did not see the vehicle before delivery and the grounds I am thinking of are, unsuitability to my needs due to the length of the vehicle. I appreciate it could be flimsy.0

Flimsy?
Unacceptable is a better word.
So you have ordered vehicle making a range if assumptions about its size, without undertaking any research or even looking at a vehicle at a main dealers. You signed the contract freely without coercion.
And now its 'too big'?
What do You really think?Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I can't see that you have any right to return the new one and get your old one back - but I also see no harm in asking.0

I'd try calling up first thing in the morning and coming clean, and asking if you can swallow an admin fee for cancellation, and relying on their goodwill to help you out0

As others have said it's too flimsy to be proper grounds, but definitely try for a goodwill gesture and offer to compensate them for any expense all this will cause, rather than suggest they allow you to simply cancel the deal and get your old one back....... the grounds I am thinking of are, unsuitability to my needs due to the length of the vehicle. I appreciate it could be flimsy.0 -
Thank you for the replies. I realise I should have researched better but I also know the problems I wold encounter daily and yes, I am at fault. Thanks for the suggestions and I will go for the goodwill route and know something will have to be paid.0
