Frantic panic :-( illness and debt on cc

Hello everyone
I'm wondering you can help me?
I've ended up living on my own suddenly due to a very unexpected break up... And have got myself in a pickle.
At the moment I've been reading all the forum topics I can so I'll post my basics here in a minute.
Slight back story, I have gone down to working part time and doing some cash in hand work at weekends only due to a brain condition that I'm waiting to hear about. Surgery etc. Meanwhile my boyfriend and I (now ex) put things we needed on my credit card thinking we would pay it off once I was back to work. Now I'm on my own I can't afford it, and I have no idea when my health will allow me to go back full time. I'm getting housing benefit and council tax now which is helping. I am still £185 short every month which is basically the debt amount. I'm so so worried about what to do.
Ok time to bear my soul (I won't include rent or counc tax amounts)
Car insurance £19.20 (lowest need car for work - no buses at 5:45am!)
Electricity key £40pm
Water £20 (no bill yet, just a guess)
Life insurance £13.92
Pet insurance £9.29
Mobile top up £10pm
Food £80 pm
Diesel £50pm
Vet bill £9.99pm
Tv license £12.12pm
Credit cards £169pm
Overdraft £28 pm
Over spend of £185
Any ideas great fully received. I'm very worried about all this now.

Sounds like skipping the credit card and OD would make ends meet.
Maybe give a debt charity a call or fill out the stepchange online tool.:beer:0 -

Sorry to hear about your health problem, hope you get better soon.
So, after rent and council tax you have £276 left, and £461 to pay out on the above?
some questions from me-
how come you have a vet bill and pet insurance to pay?
do you have any dependants? wondering why you have life insurance? or is it a mortgage you have, not rental property?
could you let a room?
you don't have anything down for car maintenance (MOT,tyres etc)
how much do you owe on the credit card, what is the minimum payment and what is the interest rate?
how much is the overdraft, what interest is on that?
Is the exOH not willing to pay anything towards the debt?
sorry for all the questions!
may be easier to fill this out-

I have a vet bill due to my assistance dog. If I have a fit from my condition he will get my meds, and get help or bark til someone comes.
Apart from him, I have no dependants.
I used to have a mortgage so that why I had life insurance. I'm renting now.
And it's only one bedroom so I can't rent a room sadly.
Minimum payment on the cc is £169 on 0% £6547 :-( and overdraft is £29pm on £1230. Only £6 of that is the charge.
I haven't even factored in for tyres etc as that would be going on the card usually.
Sometimes I can manage a few extra hours at work so I save that money for gifts/new clothes if needed.
Thank you for taking the time to reply :-)0 -
Do you still need the life insurance or can you cancel it now? Would help as it is nearly half the monthly overdraft payment.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0

Thanks.
sorry, what I meant about the vet bill was, would the insurance not pay the bill? Your dog sounds wonderful, bet he is like family to you, and good to have company after a break up.
can you now cancel the life insurance then?
is there any other benefits you could claim due to your illness stopping you from working full time? (sorry, I don't much about that sort of thing)
The epilepsy support groups may be able to advise.
Think it would be good for you to speak to one of the debt charities-
stepchange, national debtline, and christians against poverty are just three FREE ones I can think of.

In terms of extra funds as you are only working part time due to an illness have you looked into PIP ( Used to be Disability Living Allowance)
It can be claimed for all sorts of things and the fact you have an assitance dog suggests that you may be entilted.
I cant post a link as im a fairly new member but someone might be able to, or if you can google PIP its the first link
It's worth Looking at0 -

Thanks for all the replies. I'll definitely look at cancelling the policy now. And I should look at pip benefit too.
Did I see a thread that had a challenge of making extra money tenner a month/week or something? Thinking if I can chop away at the debt it will all help...
Thanks again0 -
do you have a landline? you could look at refraining from topping up your phone and just use it to receive calls on the go and only use landlines when needs must, other than that it's your OD and CC that are dragging you under0
