We're due to rollover our mortgage and have been looking at various options this week. And upfront arrangement fees have grown enormously in the last 2 years. One quote we had was £1599.00  . We did end up paying nearly £900 though. Last time it was nearer £300.

Our exit fee is £50, but next time it will be £200. They're getting their pound of flesh.

Did you see on the BBC one show that they are unlawful or something high exit fees - or maybe I am mixing something up.

I think Martins doing something on Tonight on friday about reclaiming Mortgage fees... not sure which ones tho, I know NOTHING about mortgages  (except that I want one!)

What is apparently illegal is upping the exit fee between taking the mortgage and redeeming it. Our contract (just expiring) stated £50, so they cannot raise it just because their exit fees are now £200, they have to keep it as per the original contract.
