How are you finding ebay at the moment?

The big growth is in mobile sales and that's where all the money is going as far as Ebay are concerned.
That's a horrible market to be in. The buyers are horrible and complete scammers.
I always remember the buyer who emailed me on Monday to ask why hadn't I delivered her phone and I was going to get bad feedback.
The Monday in question was the August bank Holiday and she hadn't ordered it on Friday (not that she would have got it on Monday anyway) but 1:45am on Saturday morning.0 -
I do think it depends on the sale categories, mobile phones have been mentioned , although that is not a category I would sell in as a business. I've sold a few of my own phones when I have upgraded and that's all.
Some of my categories do sell well, but I still dabble in cult or slightly off beat areas and reputation is everything. So I can get better prices than other sellers and often list at a price I want, knowing than others have undercut me considerably . Some of my other categories are harder, and although I will never race to the bottom , price wise, I will adjust to stay at around the market price, but again I never aim to be the lowest- I just make sure I have the premium listing badge as that seems to help.
My private account is harder, I believe having spoken to many other sellers that buyers have lost confidence in private sellers. Businesses are sold as being completely safe, full refund etc if not happy - whereas buying from a private seller could end up a problem. This view is probably not correct, but we do see it echoed a bit on threads here in MSE . As a test I have actually removed some unsold private items from my private account, and sold them on my business account, the exact same listing but adding the postage to the item cost and getting the 'premium listing' badge, and I've sold them.
I am experimenting with other sites but with no,luck so far. Even Facebook is failing to give me any sales at all at the moment.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I do think this is a difficult time of year all round anyway.
I have just opened my credit card statement:
Last months holiday
Kids went back to school
Financing stuff for the kids in the holidays
Shopping for 'stuff' other than essentials is the last thing on my mind to be fair.0 -

There are changes to Ebay (since earlier this year) that can't be put down to time of year/month/seasons as far as I'm concerned. I sell much the same products on Amazon and sales are increasing, on Ebay they continue to fall.
Yes, I am guessing I am talking about my own line of business, the bank called and I coul tell them the times of year I was quiet and they said 'yes, we can see that from the deposit amounts changing'. Even the run up to Xmas is the quietest time of year for me.0 -
ebay seems to be down again this morning.Even though September is a quiet month it's not helping at all.0

Yep, I had auctions ending, most gone unsold and I cannot get in to see the messages either.
And people are leaving in drives, why??
It seems now that every time I look to buy something I cannot get onto the listing.0 -
