internet banks more lenient - agree or disagree?

I seem to be reading threads that some people who open current accounts (or other financial products)from high street banks get rejected. When they try to open a current account (or other financial products) from an internet bank, they get accepted.
Did this happen to any of you?

I don't think they look at you any different from the computers point of view, however it is possible that the online system will use a different credit reference agency than those applications made in the bank which could produce a different result.spreading the MSE love0

In my experience there has been no difference.
I have a smile internet account for everyday banking which was opened a few years ago without any hassle, I was earning a good salary then. Now on a fixed lowish annuity, only income and recently had no problems whatsoever opening a Natwest account for convenience of branch access. Natwest even gave me, without requesting a £250 debit/cheque gaurantee card.
I do have a couple of credit cards with low limits which are paid off fully every month, not smile or Natwest, and I assume my credit file is quite good. Never stolen other peoples money by going overdrawn or exceeding an agreed overdraft, which I'm sure must help.:rolleyes:0
