Fakes On Ebay!

how the hell do eBay get away with it,,i look most days on there and im shocked at the amount of fakes being sold on the site
im just peed off as i have purchased some stuff and found them to be fake
if this was a shop selling these surely they would be sent to court over this matter!
are eBay to big for this and could they be sent to court because they are infringing some rule i guess letting people do this?

yep i agree with you about the fakes, so much so i will not buy dvds. games, etc... anything that can be easily fakes on ebay anymore.

i got stung a couple of months ago with a gameboy advance game that was a fake, i am at the moment taking it up with trading standards but i dont think its gonna come to much.

ebay dont care i dont think as long as they are making money!!!

Ebay are not a shop, they are a third party.
If you report the offending items they should be removed (eventually).
Why do people pay a fiver for something that should be £25 and then act all shocked and outraged when it inevitably turns out to be a fake?
If people weren't greedy and actually wanted to pay the proper rrp. for items then there wouldn't be all the scammers selling fakes in the first place.

Ebay should suspend anyone, including Powersellers, shown to have sold a fake item.
    illegitimi non carborundum
  • ebay will close there account if enough people report and leave neg feedback...

u get what you pay for...;)

    i completely agree!!!!

but they didnt to the seller that sold me a fake  i dont think he even got a strike!! they make them to much money.

and to windswept the game i bought wasnt cheap cheap, i couldnt get it anywhere in the shops as they had all sold out, so only paid a couple of quid less than the rrp.

nothing will happen to the seller i dont think, but it has made me feel a bit better getting trading standards involved.

Why is it that as a buyer that is trying to save a couple of pounds because you live on a budget that your greedy. But if your the seller thats ok. I'm sorry windswept but living on a budget means you have to price things up. And I have reported sellers and got no where as ebay is earning to much from them to worry about people like us.
Thanks for any help and advice given

    this guy is selling fakes

    http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZfunkylittlemanQQhtZ-1

a glance at his feedback numbers shows how many people he's ripping off.

looking at his listings it is difficult to know they are fakes to the average buyers eye. the prices don't appear too bad at first glance. only recently have their negative feedbacks confirmed what i already knew.

i know at least 2 of the titles that are only officially on region 1. and before people here start shouting about the 'region 0 should give it away', there are plenty of official region 0 dvds available in the usa. just not the titles that numpty is selling.

Windswept pointed out that fakes should be removed if users report them, and also correctly pointed out that ebay don't sell the fakes.

'how the hell do eBay get away with it'

    no,

it's the sellers getting away with it.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, but surely buying a fake is a false economy? What's the point in saving your pennies to buy designer if it's not designer?

Ebay do remove listings - but if they're reported in the dying hours of an auction, you can't realistically expect them to take immediate action.
